New Delhi, Apr 24 (UNI) Wishing Sachin Tendulkar a speedy recovery from the shoulder surgery, Yuvraj Singh today said Team India was desperately missing him and hoped that the batting maestro would return to the side at the earliest.
Asked what would he wish for Sachin on his 33rd birthday, Yuvraj told reporters here, ''My message is 'Recover fast and come back soon. We are missing you','' adding that the mainstay of Indian batting for the past 16 years was still young.
Sachin has been plagued by a shoulder injury, which forced him to skip the one-day series against England. He underwent a shoulder surgery in March and is going through a rehabilitation process with his availability for the West Indies tour under serious doubt.
Meanwhile, recalling his initial interactions with the master blaster, an awe-struck Yuvraj said, ''To be honest, I was very nervous in the beginning and could not muster enough courage to talk to him.'' ''Here was the guy who was idolised around the copuntry but in the end, it was Sachin himself who came up to talk to me and since then we have been great friends,'' he added.
''Though we became friends, I respect him a lot and I wish him happy and fruitful years,'' Yuvraj said.
Paying rich tributes to arguably the best batsman of the era, Yuvraj said, ''I have learnt a lot from him and want to see him back in the side at the earliest.'' UNI AY PM KP1900
