Reject anti-development and communal forces: Sonia

Kozhikode, Apr 24 (UNI) Congress president Sonia Gandhi today urged the people to reject the Left Democratic Front in Kerala as it was following the path of confrontation and the BJP which was spreading the poison of communal divide.

Winding up the second leg of her campaigning for the Assembly elections here this evening, she said the Congress led United Democratic Front's victory was imperative to sustain the momentum of growth in Kerala.

Hitting out at the political opponents, Ms Sonia Gandhi said the LDF had a negative agenda and believed in the path of confrontation.

''They speak one thing when in power and quite another language when in opposition,'' she said.

She said people should reject parties like the BJP which ''spread poison'' among the people to create communial divide. ''They are undertaking yatras from time to time. They should not forget the pain caused by the earlier yatras to the common man,'' she added.

Democratic Indira Congress (Karunakaran) President K Muraleedharan said it was a special moment for him to share the dias with Ms Sonia Gandhi.

He said the UDF would go united and there would not be any scope for a split after the elections.

Juveniles arrested for murder

New Delhi, Apr 24 (UNI) Two juveniles, involved in the murder of a watchman a few days ago, have been arrested by the police from West Delhi's Uttam Nagar area. The two, who had been indulging in theft of iron rods for pocket money, had murdered the watchman of a gymnasium in Uttam Nagar on the night of April 20 when the latter threatened to inform the police. After the murder, they hid the body.....

Mumbai cleric gets bail from Srinagar court; on way back to city

Mumbai, Apr 24 (UNI) Imam of Mumbai's famous Haj House is being brought back to the city by the police from Srinagar, where he was granted bail by a local court last week, police sources here said. Arrested on January 14 by the anti-terrorist squad (ATS) of the city police for his alleged links with terrorist groups, Ghulam Yahya Khan was taken away by the Jammu and Kashmir police on February 20 to probe his links.....

Robbers loot petrol pump of Rs 26.75 lakh

Vadodara, Apr 24 (UNI) In a day-light robbery, armed miscreants looted Rs 26.75 lakh in cash from a Reliance-owned petrol pump on the outskirts of Ankleswar city, about 90 km from here, today. According to Bharuch DSP G S Malik, the staff of the petrol pump located at Kim, were allegedly robbed at gun point near Piramal village when they were on their way to Ankleswar city to deposit the cash in an SBI branch.
