Pushkar rape case accused remand extended

Ajmer, Apr 24 (UNI) A local court today extended the police custody of the main accused and his mother, in the Japanese tourist rape case in the holy city of Pushkar.

Main accused Babloo and four others were presented in the court of Judicial Magistrate in Pushkar and the public prosecutor appealed for two more days of police remand to obtain the amount, which they had taken from the victim.

The victim, a Japanese tourist, has charged Babloo, a hotel manager with rape and duping her of Rs 54,000 which he promised to keep in the safe custody of his mother, Roshni.

Defence counsel Satyanarayan Sharma, however, said the victim along with history sheeter Zaif Khan of Agra were blackmailing Babloo and his mother Roshni and were demanding an amount of Rs 1 lakh.

Mr Sharma alleged when they failed to pay the money, the Japanese woman faxed a message to Pushkar police superintendent and lodged a false case against them on April 17. The police is yet to investigate into the allegation.

The magistrate extended Babloo and his mother's remand by one more day for further questioning by the police. They will be presented in court tomorrow.

The bail application of Babloo's mother Roshni, which was also presented today, will be taken up tomorrow.

The victim had alleged that on April 2 Babloo raped her after offering her an intoxicating drink.

The victim somehow managed to escape to Agra from where she faxed a complaint to police in Pushkar on April 17.
