Patkar submits list of 1174 SSP affected in Mah to Patil

Mumbai, Apr 24 (UNI) Narmada Bachao Andolan (NBA) activist Medha Patkar today informed Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil that 1174 Sardar Sarovar Project (SSP) affected families in Maharashtra were yet to be rehabilitated.

A group of SSP affected families, lead by Ms Patkar met Mr Patil at the Janata Dal office in south Mumbai and submitted the list of the affected people.

Ms Patkar brought the notice of Mr Patil that all the three states involved in the imbroglio have to file affidavit pertaining to progress in rehabilitation works in the Supreme Court by tomorrow and thereafter NBA will file a rejoinder in the court within eight days. ''It was wrong that the Apex court has given three months time to file reply,'' she observed.

While providing the list of the affected people, she alleged that bureaucrats were misguiding the judiciary on behalf of the government.

Mr Patil told mediapersons later that he would discuss the issue with the Chief Minister today and would comment on it tomorrow.

The Supreme Court had passed an order on April 20 that the rehabilitation of the affected families in Madhya Pradesh should be completed within three months.
