Notice to Uma-supported candidate in Rae Bareli bypoll

Rae Bareli, UP, Apr 24 (UNI) Apna Dal candidate in the May 8 Rae Baereli parliamentary bypoll Prabha Singh Lodh has been issued a notice by District Magistrate and ex-officio Returning Officer Jitendra Kumar.

The Apan Dal nominee is being supported by expelled BJP leader and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Uma Bharti.

Ms Lodh has been asked to furnish within 24 hrs, the approval of Chief Election Officer or Chief Election Commissioner over the campaining in her favour, by Uma Bharti helecopter.

Addressing a news conference here this evening, Mr Kumar said if she failed to comply with the notice within the stipulated time frame, action would be taken as per rules.

Meanwhile, section 144 has come into force in Rae Bareli in wake of the bypoll.

PM sets up Narmada committee; Report in three months

Kathmandu, Apr 24 (UNI) Pro-democracy protestors today continued their struggle for full democracy, though not on an aggressive note, under the close scutiny of security personnel with both sides seeming to shore up their strength for tomorrow. Three bombs recovered in railway track

Ranchi, Apr 24 (UNI) Three bombs were recovered from the railway track in between Johra and Kita stations in Ranchi division of South Eastern Railway today. According to railway spokesman, a team of five gangmen spotted the bombs. Railway authorities informed the police, he said. Police is investigating the matter.
