NIIT to computer education to more states

Hyderabad, Apr 24 (UNI) Revealing that the NIIT, Asia's largest IT trainer, will add 400 more schools for providing computer training to school kids across the country, NIIT Director and Chief Operating Officer P Rajendran today announced its plans to introduce simulated Labs for schools which could not not afford conventional labs.

Presently 1.5 million students of 4500 schools, including those in Assam, Chattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Meghalaya, Tamil Nadu, Tripura and West Bengal were being imparted computer literacy under the K-12 programme in partnership with respective state Governments, he told reporters here.

Schools could opt for simulated labs for teaching science with the help of NIIT's new initiative in Computer-aided Learning, he said.

NIIT was also offering complete IT education package to private schools, he said.

NIIT's education offering included validated multimedia content mapped to school cirriculum, course ware and certification of students. Over 900 private schools including DAV Public School here and The Scindia School, Gwalior were covered, he said.

Chennai Police going all out to ensure fair poll

Bhaderwah by-election: 25 pc polling recorded till noon
