Murray battles through in Barcelona

BARCELONA, Apr 24 (Reuters) Andy Murray won his first match in more than six weeks today when he beat Spanish wildcard Marcel Granollers-Pujol 4-6 6-4 6-2 to reach the second round of the Barcelona Open.

The 18-year-old Briton, ranked 43rd, trailed the world number 291 by a set and a break but he rallied to win the second set.

With Granollers-Pujol struggling with cramp in both legs, Murray eased through the third set to set up a clash with fifth seed David Ferrer.

Russian seeds Igor Andreev and Dmitriy Tursunov both went out on the opening day.

Andreev, seeded 11th, was beaten 4-6 7-6 7-6 by fellow Russian Teimuraz Gabashvili, while 14th seed Tursunov was ousted 4-6 6-0 6-3 by Spanish wildcard Carlos Cuadrado.

Frenchman Gael Monfils beat Stefano Galvani of Italy 6-2 7-5.

Sushma calls for ouster of Left Front govt.

Barrackpore, Apr 24 (UNI) BJP leader Sushma Swaraj today called upon the people to support the opposition parties for ouster of the Left Front government in West Bengal. Omar Abdullah hot favourite among women voters in Kashmir

Pattan, Baramulla, Apr 24 (UNI) ''We will vote for Omar Abdullah... He is good and speaks well,'' said two teenaged girls as they were about to cast their ballot for the first time at a polling station in Pattan constituency today. ''I am sure he will work for the development of our area,'' said 20-year-old Shabroz of Chakpora village in Pattan constituency. When reminded that National Conference (NC) Chief Omar Abdullah was not contesting the by-elections.....
