Land sharks held for selling, damaging graveyard in UP capital

Lucknow, Apr 24 (UNI) Police today arrested two people for selling and damaging a graveyard in the Uttar Pradesh capital.

SSP (Lucknow) Ashutosh Pandey said here Narendra Maurya had allegedly sold two bighas of a graveyard in Aashiana area here to Vimlesh Tiwari for Rs 4 crore.

The police swung into action when Tiwari was levelling the graveyard with bulldozers.

A case had been registered and the duo sent to jail.

The city police had launched a campaign against land mafias on April 6.

So far over 90 land sharks had been identified by a special cell -- set up recently -- to put a check on their activities.

One killed, ten injured in road mishap

Mysore, Apr 24 (UNI) One person was killed and ten injured in a collision between an autorickshaw and a private bus near Induvalu village in Mandya district of Karnataka today. Police said the accident occurred when the autorickshaw, carrying nine people, was proceeding to Thonnur. A cyclist also sustained injuries when the autorickshaw hit him under the impact of the collision. The injured were admitted to the district hospital at Mandya. UNI BSP RG SRS HS1752.....

3 of family killed in road mishap

Mirzapur, Apr 24 (UNI) Three members of a family died on the spot when a speeding truck collided with their car in the Ahraura area of the district today. Police said the car was coming from Varanasi when the incident occurred near Chahelwa hill. The deceased were identified as Santosh (32), his wife Sunita (30) and daughter Pinki. The couple's two-yr-old son also sustained grievous injuries. The truck driver managed to escape. UNI XC-VS PR VC1756.....

4 including UP minister's kin killed in road accident

Hardoi, Apr 24 (UNI) Four people, including Uttar Pradesh Transport Minister Naresh Agarwal's nephew, were killed and another injured in a road accident on Lucknow-Hardoi highway here today. Police said the mishap occurred under Kachuna area when a car carrying the four victims en route to Lucknow was hit by a roadways bus killing all the four on the spot. The deceased include the UP minister's 22-yr-old nephew Ketan Agarwal, Srikant Dwivedi (60), S D.....
