Kumaraswamy to take part in DD's 'Hello CM' prog

Mysore, Apr 24 (UNI) The Bangalore Doordarshan Kendra will telecast a two-hour live programme, 'Hello Chief Minister,' on April 29 during which Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy will reply to queries posed by the public.

Informing this to newspersons here today, Kendra Director Mahesh Joshi clarified that it was not a phone-in programme. The Chandana channel, which was scheduled to telecast the programme from 1600 hrs, had already received thousands of questions from the public, of which 40 had been selected by a Committee. Mr Kumaraswamy would answer these select questions covering all sectors.

He said it was for the first time such a programme was being organised with the Chief Minister. Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and other ministers had also agreed to take part in similar programmes.

Iraq fights oil blaze in the north

BAGHDAD, April 24 (Reuters) Iraqi firefighters are battling a large blaze at a domestic crude oil gathering centre in the north an Iraqi oil official said on Monday. The fire which erupted yesterday, is burning between the northern oil centre of Kirkuk and Baiji, home to the country's biggest refinery. Sugar prices up in Kolhapur

Kolhapur, Apr 24 (UNI) The prices of M30 and S30 grades of sugar went up by Rs 30 per quintal to Rs 1,835/1,840 and Rs 1,825/1,830 per quintal respectively. There was no trading in the Kolhapur gur market and Sangli turmeric futures market today, while turmeric spot rate remained unchanged to Rs 2,300 per quintal. UNI BBK KU AG1728.....

Amended Companies Act ready; waits Cabinet nod
