New Delhi, Apr 24: Bangalore-based engineering construction conglomerate, IDEB Projects Ltd, and Shanghai Urban Construction Group (SUCG) have jointly bagged a Rs 168 crore project to design and build an elevated viaduct of length 4.555 km and five elevated stations for Phase II of Delhi Mass Rapid Transport System.
The joint venture partners outbid five others including Gammon India, Punj Lloyd, Afcons, IGM, Malaysia and Simplex to win the design and build contract.
This is the first time that Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has outsourced both design and construction to another agency, IDEB Managing Director H S Bedi said.
Inderlok, Ashok Park Main, Punjabi Bagh East, Shivaji Park, Madipur are five stations on the Inderlok-Mundka Corridor which are to constructed.
Singapore-based STUP-CPG is the design consultant to IDEB-SUCG for the project to be completed within 30 months.
IDEB Projects (P) Ltd had signed an MoU with SUCG in August 2005 for taking up large infrastructure projects such as bridges, roads, tunnels, highways of the Metro Rail system in India.
IDEB is involved in engineering construction, real estate, hospitality and manufacturing.
SUCG Ltd, one of the largest construction companies in China, is a comprehensive enterprise particularly supported by the Ministry of Construction and Shanghai Muncipal Government.
