Hostage rescued in Asom

Guwahati, Apr 24 : Police today rescued kidnapped Chief Engineer of Asom PWD Department Suren Das near Pathsala in Barpeta district.

Suspected ULFA militants kidnapped him on March 9 from his official quarter.

According to police sources, he was found with cerebral malaria and rushed to Guwahati Medical College (GMC) in serious condition.

The sources also informed that the engineer's captors had left him behind as he was suffering from high fever.

The source confirmed that he was kidnapped purely for extortion.
