Hearing on Shinde's search warrant plea adjourned till May two

Mumbai, Apr 24 (UNI) A Special anti-corruption bureau (ACB) court today adjourned till May two, the hearing on an application filed by ACB officer Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Vishnu Shinde, seeking a warrant to search the office of another officer ACP Sudhakar Pujari who, according to the former, has refused to hand over certain documents relating to the case of three Lohar brothers in the MPSC scam of 2002.

The matter came up before Additional Sessions Judge S P Mahajan, who had adjourned the matter following a request from Special Public Prosecutor Vijay Thorat who sought time to file his say in response to the reply filed by Mr Pujari today.

ACP Pujari in his reply today told the court that the grounds for issuance of search warrant against him to take possession of the documents were not correct and prayed to the court to reject Mr Shinde's application.

ACP Shinde, a senior ACB officer, had filed the application on March 24, seeking warrant to search the office of ACP Pujari to take into possession the documents pertaining to MPSC examination of 1997, which the three Lohar brothers had cleared and later were selected as Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySPs) in Maharashtra police.

Mr Shinde in his complaint had said ACP Pujari was not handing over the in the Lohar brothers' case, which was earlier incorporated in the MPSC case probed by latter.

Now, the Lohar brothers' case has been seperated from the MPSC case 33 of 2002 and registered as a seperate case under CR No.7 which is being probed by ACP Shinde.

However ACP Pujari in his reply informed the court that original documents could not given to Shinde as the matter with regards to the MPSC scam was still pending in the court.

The three Lohar brothers-- Nitin, Manoj and Sunil-- selected as DySPs through the MPSC are accused of clearing the examination by manipulating the results in 1997.

They were dismissed earlier this year after MPSC secretary lodged a supplementary complaint, making them accused in 2001 MPSC scam.
