Hearing in Mulayam Singh case adjourned till May 1

New Delhi, Apr 24 (UNI) The Supreme Court today adjourned till May 1 the hearing of a PIL seeking prosecution of Uttar Pardesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav and his family members for amassing assets disproportionate to their known sources of income.

A division bench, headed by Justice Ruma Pal, adjourned the hearing on the request of Mulayam Singh's counsl P H Parekh who sought time for filing counter to the PIL filed by one Vishwanath Chaturvedi, alleging that the Samajwadi Party supremo and his MP son Akhilesh Singh Yadav had acquired assets worth several crores by misusing their official status.

13 IPS promoted as DIGs, SM Sharma elevated as ADGP

Chandigarh, Apr 24 (UNI) The Punjab government today promoted IG S M Sharma as Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) and 13 other IPS officers of the 1991 batch to the rank of DIG. No plans to evacuate Indians from Nepal : MEA, CA MIN

New Delhi, Apr 24 (UNI) Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee today chaired a high-level meeting at his office and reviewed the current developments including the situation in Nepal. The two-hour meeting which discussed the Nepal situation in detail, was also attended by Home Minister Shivraj Patil, Foreign Secretary Shyam Saran, Home Secretary V K Duggal, Defence Secretary Shekhar Dutt, Army Chief J J Singh and Heads of various intelligence agencies, sources said......

IA not put on alert to evacuate Indians from Nepal : Civ. Avi.

New Delhi, Apr 24 (UNI) The Civil Aviation Ministry tonight described as ''incorrect and baseless'' reports in a section of the media that Indian Airlines had been put on alert and asked to stand by to evacuate Indians from Nepal. ''This report is incorrect and baseless,'' a statement issued by the Civil Aviation Ministry said late tonight. ''The Ministry has reiterated that there are no plans for any evacuation in Nepal and Indian Airlines.....
