Five persons killed in road accident in Sonagadh

Surat, Apr 24 (UNI) Five people were killed in an accident early this morning when a truck collided head-on with a tempo.

Police said that the accident took place in Vardha village, Sonagadh taluk in Surat district. The mishap occurred when a truck in which some labourers were travelling collided with a tempo carrying members of a marriage party.

The dead were identified as Nokkiya Phosla Vasava (65), Manch Garia Vasava (55), Ramesh Gamia (25), all travelling in the tempo and Kumar Banani (40) and Raju Sahai (45) labourers travelling in the truck.

While the injured were admitted to the Bardoli Hospital, police arrested the truck driver.

Panaji, Apr 24 (UNI) The six-member committee, appointed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to study all aspects of the proposed international airport at Mopa in North Goa, has sought a six-month extension and has also asked for including technical experts in the panel for completing its task. Body of hardcore militant found

Jammu, Apr 24 (UNI) The body of a hardcore militant was found in the Sadar Dhal Acchal Bani area of district Doda in the Jammu region today. According to the police, the militant, identified as Rehamtullah, a resident of Mohalla Desa, had reportedly died in a snow avalanche in January this year.
