Five injured in clash between two groups

Hyderabad, Apr 24 (UNI) A clash between two groups in Old City resulted in injuries to five persons and mild tension in Mangalhat area last night.

Police said a group of unidentified persons attacked a autorickshaw in which a 20-year-old girl and her brother were going to a hospital. When the boy tried to resist their attempts, the culprits inflicted stab injuries and fled from the scene. The attackers were suspected to be from Jihrra in Mangalhat.

When the relatives, friends and residents of Indiranagar of the boy came to know about the attack they went Jihrra, picked up a quarrel with the local residents. Later, they started hurling stones on each other. In the melee, the girl also sustained injuries.

The police who reached the spot resorted to lathicharge and dispersed the angry groups. The injured were admitted to Osmania Hosital for treatment.

The police were on the look out for the miscreants.

Weavers will be protected

Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, Apr 24 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Textiles, Handlooms and Labour Minister G Vinod today said the State Government would not encourage the textile industry at the cost of the handloom sector. Talking to reporters here after participating in a seminar on "textilee industry trends and opportunities", he said the state government was determined to protect handloom weavers. "We will not sacrifice the interests of the handloom weavers. There is no conflict between textile.....

One killed, ten injured in road mishap

Mysore, Apr 24 (UNI) One person was killed and ten injured in a collision between an autorickshaw and a private bus near Induvalu village in Mandya district of Karnataka today. Police said the accident occurred when the autorickshaw, carrying nine people, was proceeding to Thonnur. A cyclist also sustained injuries when the autorickshaw hit him under the impact of the collision. The injured were admitted to the district hospital at Mandya. UNI BSP RG SRS HS1752.....
