Ernakulam Div of LIC tops new business performance

Chennai, Apr 24: The Ernakulam Division of LIC in the South Zone has emerged the topper in new business performance on all counts in absolute volume, growth rate and target achievement on policies during 2005-2006, LIC Zonal Manager (South Zone) G Prabhakara said today.

Addressing a press conference here, he said Thiruvanathapuram, Ernakulam, Kozhikode and Salem divisions of the zone figured among the top ten divisions of LIC during 2005-2006.

While Thiruvananthapuram division topped the Zone's merit list on growth rate and target achievement on premium basis, the Kozhikode division topped the zone in growth rate on Sum Assured basis.

Out of the 261 branch offices in the zone, 115 achieved their targets on policies and premium basis, 33 branches on policies basis and 67 offices on premium basis, he said.

Among the top performing branches of the zone, Ottapalam under Ernakulam division led with new sales of 39,049 policies followed by Tiruvannamalai and Hosur.

Under New Business Premium count, Muvattupuzha branch under Ernakulam division had collected Rs 28.28 crore followed by Thrissur-I and Tiruchengode branches.

Mr Prabhakara said Ottapalam Branch Development Officer F Kunjumon was the number one DO in south zone, completing new sales of 12,479 policies, followed by Mr K Venu (Irinjalakuda branch) and Mr K K Sivasankaran (Thrissur-II branch).

Mr R Pradeep, Development Officer from Karunagapally was the number one development officer of the zone bringing in a premium income of Rs 15.84 crore, followed by Mr R Shanmugam (Tiruchengode branch) and Mr G Raju (Muvattupuzha branch).

Low turnout for Visakha-I repoll

Four chicken guinea cases reported in Dharwad

Dharwad, Apr 24 (UNI) With four more cases of chicken guinea being reported from Kalghatagi town of Dharwad district this morning the total number of cases in the district rose to 31.
