Naihati, Apr 24 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today said people of West Bengal had experienced enough 'misrule' under the 29 years of CPI(M) led Left Front government and needed a change to develop a 'New Bengal'.
He urged the people to exercise their franchise freely without any fear.
Addressing an election meeting in favour of Trinamool Congress candidate Dhilan Sarkar, contesting against CPI(M) MLA Ranjit Kundu in Naihati constituency under North 24 Parganas, Mr Kumar said, ''It is high time to make a change in the government for a 'New Bengal' under the leadership of Trinamool supremo Mamata Banerjee''.
Mr Kumar said the state failed to develop in the right direction during its 29-year-regime. ''To roast the bread, it needs to be altered on the other side so that the piece of bread was not spoilt or burnt, likewise the government needs to be altered before it is spoilt,'' he added.
Mr Kumar, who altered the 15-year-old RJD government in Bihar last year, alleged that during the RJD regime, development in Bihar was completely stalled.
He asserted that development of the country would be possible when the Eastern and North Eastern regions were developed and there was improvement in communication system with other parts of the country.
''The NDA government at the Centre had done a stupendous job, which remains incomplete,'' Mr Kumar pointed out.
