Dr Manmohan Singh arrives in Berlin

Berlin, Apr 24 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today held talks with German President Horst Kohler and other leaders on expansion of bilateral economic ties and sought greater cooperation in energy sector, especially in civilian nuclear energy.

After inaugurating the Indo-German Business Summit in Hannover along with Chancellor Dr Angela Mearkel, Dr Singh flew here and was greeted on arrival by senior officials of the German government.

Soon after his arrival, he met the Federal President and held talks with him on whole range of bilateral matters, regional and international issues. It was followed by discussions with former Chancellor Mr Schroeder.

Doctor sentenced to 5 years rigorous imprisonment in Kashmir

Srinagar, Apr 24 (UNI) The Special Judge Anti Corruption Kashmir today sentenced a doctor to five years rigorous improsonment and fined him Rs 4.15 lakh for forging his date of birth. In the event of default of fine, the doctor had to undergo rigorous imprisonment for further period of one year, according to the judgement. The accused, Dr Ghulam Hassan Mir, then medical officer (Unani) was further sentenced to three years of rigorous imprisonment and fine.....
