DMK-led DPA poised for win in TN: Bardhan

Tiruchirapalli, Apr 24 (UNI) CPI general secretary A B Bardhan today claimed that the DMK-led Democratic Progressive Alliance (DPA), which included the Congress and Left parties, was poised for a good victory in the ensuing Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.

Addressing the press conference here today, the senior CPI leader said, ''Madam Jayalalitha might be trying all sorts of gimmicks. But the sheer weight of arithmetic is in our favour.'' The people had also been attracted by what had been promised and what was stated in the election manifestos of the alliance parties.

People had experienced five years AIADMK rule and many sections had been attacked by the Jayalalitha government, he alleged.

Mr Bardhan, however termed as ''a correct and good step'' that Ms Jayalalitha decided to go to court against the decision of the Cauvery Tribunal to order the constitution of an expert committee.

The Tribunal should take a decision on the basis of the voluminous documents collected so far and give its final award, he said.
