Consultation on land policies held

Itanagar, Apr 24 (UNI) A consultation on 'policy and law on land as a resource for sustainable development in Arunachal Pradesh' was held here on April 22 last with a view to discussing the implications of the Arunachal Pradesh Land Settlement and Records Act, 2000.

Organised by State Forest Research Institute (SFRI), the programme was participated by various NGOs and eminent personalities, sources informed here today.

Community ownership over land, tribal people's relationship with forest, rivers customary rights vis-a-vis statute law, forest rights of tribals, participation of stakeholders in the process of drafting land policies were among the various issues discussed during the consultation.

An overview policy and law on land in Arunachal Pradesh was presented by SFRI director G N Sinha, who is also a legal expert on environmental law, sources added.
