Central official team arrives to study security

Ranchi, Apr 24 (UNI) A five-member central team headed by principal secretary to the prime minister TKA Nair arrived here today to study the situation arising out of recent Naxalites' violence in Jharkhand.

The team on a two-day visit would meet Chief Minister Arjun Munda, government officials and others. The officials also visit some of the naxal affected areas to study the situation.

The team would submit its study report to the Centre on return to New Delhi.

Mr Nair is also expected to meet the senior police officers and have first hand knowledge about measures taken to counter Maoist violence in the state.

Protests against sealing continue, 391 shops sealed on 18th day

High-level meeting on Nepal convened in Defence Ministry

New Delhi, Apr 24 (UNI) Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee today chaired a high-level meeting at his office and reviewed the situation in Nepal. The two-hour meeting which discussed the Nepal situation in detail, was also attended by Home Minister Shivraj Patil, Foreign Secretary Shyam Saran, Home Secretary V K Duggal, Defence Secretary Shekhar Dutt, Army Chief J J Singh and Heads of various intelligence agencies, sources said.
