Bulk power supply connections on domestic rate

Chandigarh, Apr 24 (UNI) The Haryana Power Utilities have decided to release bulk power supply connections to the Group Housing Societies and other institutions on domestic rate.

A proposal in this regard would be sent to Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission for approval, an official spokesman said.

The decision to this effect was taken by Mr R N Prasher, Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary, Power while reviewing the operation activities of the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam here today.

It was also decided to intensify 'on the spot' domestic and non-domestic connection scheme in rural areas to regularise ''kundi'' (unauthorised) connections.

Mr Prasher said instructions had also been issued to ensure permanent disconnection where the consumers did not pay their two consecutive electricity bills. The Utilities would also seal all the meters within a period of two months to avoid theft of electricity.

In order to check power theft, meters of the consumers of all categories with 20 KW or above loads would be shifted near the main gate of the consumer premises. He also directed to instal junction box with meters before the power was supplied to the consumers. It would minimise the possibility of power theft.

He said a target of 10 per cent reduction in aggregate technical and commercial losses within a year had been fixed.

Mr Prasher directed Superintending Engineers to ensure that the losses on urban and mixed urban feeders were brought down to a maximum of 20 per cent.
