BJP trying to divide nation on communal lines: Sonia

Kozhikode, Apr 24 (UNI) Criticising the BJP's 'Yatra Politics' Congress supremo Sonia Gandhi today said that the Saffron party was trying to divide the country on communal lines to meet nefarious ends.

Addressing a mammoth election rally here, she said the 'yatras' by BJP president Rajnath Singh and Opposition leader in the Lok Sabha L K Advani across the country were 'spreading poison.' However, the vigilant people would reject this communal agenda, she said.

Ms Gandhi later introduced to the gatering all 12 UDF candidates contesting the Assembly election in Kozhikode District.

Union Ministers E Ahamed and K H Muniappa, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, CWC member in charge of party affairs in Kerala Veerappa Moily, KPCC chief Ramesh Chennithala, state Ministers Vakkom Purushothaman and A Sujanapal and DIC (K) president K Muraleedharan were among those present.

Referee switched for FA Cup final over pressure fears

LONDON, Apr 24 (Reuters) Referee Mike Dean has lost his place at the FA Cup final to Alan Wiley over fears that he could have faced pressure from Liverpool fans living near his Merseyside home. The switch was decided by the Football Association after Liverpool lined up a final on May 13 in Cardiff against West Ham United following last weekend's semi-finals. The FA said in a statement that it ''has complete faith in Mike Dean's.....
