Bellary records highest max temp of 40.7 deg cel

Bangalore, Apr 24 (UNI) Following is a Summary of observations recorded by the weather office at 0830 hours here today. Rainfall occurred at isolated places over North Interior Karnataka and dry weather prevailed over Coastal Karnataka &South Interior Karnataka.

Annigeri and Shirahatti recorded 1 cm rainfall each.

Maximum temperatures rose at a few places over South Interior Karnataka and changed little over Coastal Karnataka and North Interior Karnataka. They were above normal at a few places over Coastal Karnataka and were normal over Interior Karnataka.

Bellary recorded highest maximum temperature of 40.7 degrees celsius over the State.

Forecast valid until Wednesday morning: Mainly dry weather may prevail over the state.

Forecast for Farmers: Mainly dry weather may prevail over all the districts of Coastal Karnataka, North Interior Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka.

Forecast for Bangalore: Mainly clear sky. Maximum temperature would be around 36 degrees celsius.

AP govt launches 'Education For All" campaign

Cut duty on LNG as feedstock for petrochemicals

New Delhi, Apr 24: The Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) has urged the government to cut the existing rate of customs duty on LNG from five per cent to zero per cent in order to bring it in parity with naphtha.Official sources said GAIL Chairman and Managing Director Proshanto Banerjee had written to Petroleum Secretary M S Srinivasan suggesting that the fiscal benefits available to naphtha, when used as feedstock for petrochemical production, should be extended to LNG......
