APF comes forward to provide mid day meals in AP

Hyderabad, Apr 24 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy today asked the ''Akshaya Patra Foundation'' to extend its services to Andhra Pradesh, particularly in and around Hyderabad.

The Foundation is presently offering mid-day meals programme to 3,20,139 students in government schools in Bangalore.

Foundation chairman Madhu Pandit Das made a presentation to the Chief minister today about its activities. It offered to provide hygienic and nutritious mid-day meals to about one lakh students in and around Hyderabad city, an official release said.

The Akshaya Patra mid-day meal programme, if implemented in Hyderabad, would provide employment to nearly 4000 people, Mr Das said.

Kendrapada(Orissa), Apr 24 (UNI) Maulbi of Tarito masque Sanawala Kadri under Kisannagar police station, 65 km from here, was dismissed by the minority community members of the village for giving interview to the journalists on a talaq issue. The Maulana also allegedly narrated the talaq of a couple of the village before the media leading to hue and cry in the area. According to police, a Palli Sabha meeting was called on December 30.....

No plans to evacuate Indians from Nepal : MEA, CA

New Delhi, Apr 24 (UNI) There are no plans to evacuate Indian nationals from Nepal and the Indian Airlines has not been put on alert in the wake of continued violence and pro-democracy agitation in the Himalayan kingdom, the government said tonight. Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee chaired a high-level meeting at his office and reviewed the current developments including the situation in that country. Minor fire in building at domestic terminal at IGI airport

New Delhi, Apr 24 (UNI) A minor fire broke out at the Indira Gandhi airport's domestic terminal building tonight. As many as 12 fire tenders were rushed to extinguish the fire that broke out at 2030 hrs in the lounge located on the second floor, fire brigade sources said.
