Airport privatisation: Reliance files SLP in Supreme Court

New Delhi, Apr 24 (UNI) Reliance ASA Consortium today filed a Special Leave Petition in the Supreme Court against the Delhi high court judgment dated April 21 dismissing its writ petition seeking to cancel the contracts awarded to GVR-ACS and GMR- Fraport for modernisation of Mumbai and Delhi airports respectively.

The petitioner in its appeal has alleged that there was hidden agenda and the decision of the government in denying contract to the Reliance was arbitrary and smacked of foul play.

The petitioner has also contended that Reliance Airport Developers were not given the contract despite being highest bidders for Delhi and technologically best equipped for Mumbai airport.

The appellant firm has challenged the judgment on the grounds that the high court has overlooked the documentary evidence placed on record by the petitioner and has also failed to appreciate the facts of the case in correct perspective.

The bids were accepted and contracts were awarded on the basis of recommendations of the Group of Eminent Technical Experts (GETE) headed by Delhi Metro Chief E. Sreedharan in favour of Ms.

GMR-Fraport.

The high court in its judgment has held that there was no illegality or arbitrariness in the entire process of accepting bids and awarding contracts.
