Rains bring down temperature in capital

New Delhi, Apr 23 (UNI) Rain pleasantly brought down temperature in the national capital tonight.

Light rains accompanied by lightning under the influence of a Western Disturbance was experienced in the city since about 2130 hrs, the weatherman said.

Earlier in the day, the city experienced a temperature of 38.7 degrees Celsius with the minimum at 22 degrees Celsius.

The maximum was recorded at 38 degrees Celsius yesterday.

The rising trend in the mercury, coming after eleven days of relatively cool weather which saw the temperatures plummet to a low of 32 degrees Celsius earlier this week, was due to the dissipation of the upper air cyclonic movement.

The upper air cyclonic storm, originating from Rajasthan, had moved away from the capital since Friday, setting off a series of dry winds over Delhi.
