Day temperatures rise in Karnataka, Kerala

Pune, Apr 20 (UNI) Day temperatures were above normal in coastal Karnataka and Kerala.

They were appreciably to markedly below normal in Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, West Bengal and Sikkim, interior Orissa, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh and were below normal in Gangetic West Bengal, Hiamachal Pradesh, Punjab, West Madhya Pradesh, North Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Vidarbha, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.

They were normal over the rest of the country.

Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places in Andaman and Nicobar and at few places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and at isolated places in West Bengal and Sikkim, Jharkhand, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, interior Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep.

Mainly dry weather will prevail over Orissa, Gujarat State, Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Andhra Pradesh State and coastal Karnataka.

Very light rains have occurred at isolated places in East Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh.

Rain or thundershowers have occurred at many places in Assam and Meghalaya and at few places in Naganand, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Andaman and Nicobar and at isolated places in Arunachal Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Orissa, Uttaranchal, West Rajasthan, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

Solapur, Apr 20 (UNI) Seven people were killed and 40 injured when a private luxury bus carrying 60 passengers fell into a dry canal on on the Kurduwadi-Barshi Highway. Solapur Rural Police said the accident occurred yesterday after the driver lost control of the bus. Most passengers were asleep at the time of the accident, police said. 60 shacks destroyed in Yamuna Pushta fire

New Delhi, Apr 20 (UNI) Around 60 shacks were destroyed in a fire in a slum cluster of East Delhi's Yamuna Pushta area this afternoon. Fire Department Officials said the blaze, which broke out at around 1235 hrs, was put out within an hour. Ten to twelve fire tenders were rushed to the area to control the fire.
