Reservation not the solution: Murthy

Bangalore, Apr 14 (UNI) Infosys founder and Chief Mentor Narayana Murthy today said reservation to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes is not a solution to their problems.

''Instead there is need to empower them (SC/ST) by tackling their problems and making them corporate worthy,'' Mr Murthy told reporters on providing more reservation to the oppressed class for admission to professional colleges.

He was speaking to newspersons after announcing his company's annual results for 2005-06.

The basic problem the country facing was that large number of people belonging to disadvantaged sections have not enrolled into primary and secondary school, he said.

''Efforts should be made to motivate them to come to school and make them educated,'' he added.
