Good Friday observed with religious fervour

Kottayam, Apr 14 (UNI) People today observed Good Friday with religious fervour.

Holy mass, special prayer meetings and ''Kurisinta Vazhi'' (Way of the Cross) were the special programmes held to mark the occasion.

Hundreds of believers participated in the way of the cross. They took out processions bearing the Cross, in commemoration of the suffering and crucifixion of Jesus Christ at different centres.

Chennai, Apr 14 (UNI) Tamils across the state today ushered in 'Viya,' the Tamil New year, with traditional fervour and gaiety. Special poojas, a variety of food preparations and social gatherings marked the new year celebration at most of the households. Wearing new clothes, people thronged famous temples, including Kapaleeswarar Temple and Parthasarathy Temple in the city, where special 'abhishekams' and poojas were performed on the occasion. Hyderabad, Apr 14 (UNI) People here observed Good Friday, marking the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, with traditional fervour. Early morning mass was held at all churches. Christians took part in prayers and observed the day with fasting and mourning. Bishop Joji of St Maris Church conducted the prayers which would continue till night in the city. Two blasts in Jama Masjid, 3 injured

New Delhi, Apr 14 (UNI) Three persons were injured as two low intensity blasts rocked the historic Jama Masjid at Old Delhi this evening. The blasts, which took place within the space of minutes, took place while scores of people were offering Friday evening prayers, sources said. The first blast occurred at about 1715 hrs. The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals. The blasts, however, did not cause any damage to the Masjid structure, Shahi Imam of.....
