Karnataka CM's Id-Milad, Mahaveer Jayanthi greetings

Bangalore, Apr 11: Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy yesterday greeted the people of the State on the eve of Id-Milad and Mahaveer Jayanthi.

In his Id-Milad message here, he said the tenets of compassion and peace preached by Prophet Mohammad were the guiding lights of humanity.

The principles of non-violence, renunciation and friendship preached by Jain Thirthankar Mahaveer were the quintessential tenets for a happy and peaceful life, the Chief Minister said, greeting the Jains.

About 120 feared dead in Ghana boat capsize

Accra, Apr 11: About 120 people were feared drowned after a boat packed with passengers and goods capsized on Ghana's Lake Volta, one of the world's largest reservoirs, police in the West African country said yesterday.''There were 150 passengers on board but only 30 have been rescued. The rest are feared dead,'' police spokesman Kwesi Ofori said. Ahmedabad, Apr 10 (UNI) Gujarat Health Minister Ashok Bhatt today said his department is closely monitoring the condition of a poultry farmer who has been admitted to the Civil Hospital here for suspected bird flu infection.
