According to Forest Department sources, the staff who had been conducting tiger census for the last one week, reported the movement of a good number of tiger cubs in Nallamala Forests .
In the last three days alone, survey teams found 14 cubs with four of them moving in the Kothapalli Forest Area and six at Achempeta. Most of them were in the age group of two months to one year.
The teams have found a total of 23 cubs besides a good number of big cats.
Stating these figures could not be final since the findings had to be analysed scientifically, the officials confirmed increase in tiger population in the state. The final census will be undertaken after the ongoing preliminary survey.
They put the number of tigers in the Srisailam Tiger Reserve at 70 as per the last census. The reserve is spread across Kurnool, Prakasham, Guntur, Nalgonda and Mahoobnagar districts.
