UP capital hottest at 41 degrees

Lucknow, Apr 7 (UNI) The mercury continued its rise in Uttar Pradesh today, giving a tough time to the populace.

The State capital with a maximum temperature of 41 degree celsius, five degree above normal was the hottest. Among other places Varanasi and Allahabad also recorded an identical maximum of 41 degrees, which was four degrees above normal, State Weather Office told UNI here today.

The dust laden gusty winds originating from Rajasthan also troubled the population of the state.

Weatherman has forecast a mainly dry weather across the state over the next 24 hours.

Patna, Apr 7 (UNI) Altogether 14 candidates have filed nomination papers for the byelection to Patna (West) Asssembly seat on April 24. Returning Officer-cum-Sub-divisional Officer Shohaib Ahmad told mediapersons that Congress candidate Rana Ajay Kumar Singh filed nomination papers on the last day today. 19000 cartridges recovered from container at JNPT

Mumbai, Apr 7 (UNI) Custom officials have recovered 19,000 live cartridges from a container at Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) at Uran in Raigad district. Sources in the customs department, said here today that a Chembur-based metallic company had received a consignment from Al-hamida Metal trading company based in Kuwait.
