UDF seeks vote on developmental agenda

Kozhikode, Apr 7 (UNI) The ambitious development schemes initiated by the Congress-led UDF government in Kerala would essentially secure another term for the coalition in the April/May Assembly poll in the state, KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala today said.

''We are confident of returning to power'' with a comfortable majority on the strength of various developmental projects initiated by the government during its five year and seek another term for the successful completion of the schemes, he said while addressing a face-to-face programme here.

Accusing the CPI-M, heading the Opposition Left Democratic Front, for ''dampening'' the development projects, he said it had opposed all progressive schemes such as Kochi Smart City, technopark and Kannur Power Project shattering the dreams of thousands and job aspirants in the state.

On corruption, he said the CPI(M), which was in the forefront in the fight against many corruption cases kept mum on SNC Lavalin case involving a top functionary of the party.

He said Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan, who was known as a crusader against such fights, owed an explanation to the people on the indictment of party secretary Pinarayi Vijayan by the Comptroller and Auditor-General (CAG) for causing loss to the tune of Rs 374 crore to the state exchequer in the power project awarded to the Canadian firm when he was the state Electricity Minister.

He said the UDF would face the electorate unitedly as it was successfully completed the seat sharing exercise whereas bickering persisted in the LDF over the issue with the CPI(M) annexing seats of smaller constituents.
