Two more arrested in phone tapping case

New Delhi, Apr 7 (UNI) Police have arrested two more people in connection with the alleged phone tapping of Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh, taking the total number of arrests made so far in the case to six.

Navneet and Nitin, who were called for questioning, were arrested after their involvement was established during their interrogation, said a senior police official.

Both have been sent to police custody till April 10.

While Navneet was arrested on April 4, Nitin was taken into custody yesterday. Both said they had been tapping phones at the behest of one Rajiv Garg.

The names of the two accused had cropped up during initial investigation and they had been summoned today for questioning.

Their involvement in the case was that they would help the main accused Vijay Dhawan (a detective) and Kuldeep (Reliance Infocomm employee) in tapping phones.

The official, however, clarified that both were neither Reliance employees nor detectives.

The other two arrested are Bhupinder Kumar and Anurag Singh, both detectives.
