Three-day Conference on Small and Medium Enterprises from April 10

Manipal, Apr 7 (UNI) A three-day National Conference on Small and Medium Entreprises--Challenges and Opportunities in the Global Market would be held here form April 18.

The Conference, jointly organised by Manipal Institute of Management (MIM) and Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), would deliberate on vital issues concerned with SME sector such as the impact of Globalisation on SMEs and preparedness to meet the Global challenge, the impact of government policies on the growth and development of SMEs, opportunities in the present Global market and International best practices to gear up to Global standards in the changing environment, MIM Director V N Varabally told newsmen here today.

He said that about 250 delegates from all over India including policymakers, Bankers, representatives from financial Institutions, Academicins, Trade and Technology related service provides besides SME owners- anagers would participate in the Conference. UNI MA MSP SKB1958

Three convicted in Mandrax seizure case

Mumbai, Apr 7 (UNI) Special NDPS court today convicted three persons to ten years' of rigorous imprisonment (RI), arrested in connection with the seizure of methaqualone tablets (Mandrax) from a factory premises in February, 2001. Additional Sessions Judge P N Deshmukh held them guilty under sections of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. Mumbai, Apr 7 (UNI) Bombay High Court has launched an Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) which would provide the status of one's case on telephone. The new inquiry service was inaugurated by Chief Justice Kshitij Vyas yesterday. Informtion would be available on telephone number 22673090 between 0800 hrs and 2100 hrs in three languages--English, Hindi and Marathi. 80 people to return to their original home after 13 years

Barasat, Apr 7(UNI) The Election Commision has asked the district administration to help 80 distressed people of Narayanpur village under Haroa Police Station in North 24 Parganas, who were evicted from their places of origin 13 years ago, official sources said here today.
