Siddaganga Swamiji's name for Bharath Rathna: Mr Kumaraswamy

Tumkur, Apr 7 (UNI) The Karnataka Government will recommend the name of Sri Sri Shivakumara Swamiji of Siddaganga Math for Bharath Rathna Award, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy said today.

Speaking at a function brought up to celebrate 99th Birth Anniversary of the Swamiji here, he said the Government will elebarate the Birth Centenaury of the Swamiji next year as a State function.

Lauding the contributions made by the Swamiji in the field of rural development, Mr Kumaraswamy said that a State level award in the name of Swamiji for Rural Development will be instituted.

Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, who also holds Finance portfolio, assured to earmark Rs Five Crore for the Birth Centenuary celebrations.

Ahmedabad, Apr 7: As many as 35 people were injured in the Kutch region last night as they rushed out of their houses in panic and were caught in stampede following moderate intensity tremors in Northern Gujarat.Police said walls of a few houses in Rapar and Bachao of Bhuj district collapsed following three tremors, one in the evening and two late night. Five die, two injured in road mishap near Parali

Beed, Maharashtra, Apr 7 (UNI) Five persons died and two sustained serious injuries when their jeep dashed against a roadside tree at Tokwadi village, about 95 km away from here, in the early hours today. Police here said seven persons, including a woman, were travelling on the jeep from Nanded to Mumbai when the mishap occurred at around 0300 hrs today. Bhopal, Apr 7 (UNI) A young woman gave birth to quintuplets- four boys and a girl- at a private hospital here yesterday, but the underweight babies died within hours, doctors today said.
