PSSR bags new orders worth Rs 633 crore

Chennai, Apr 7 (UNI) The Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited's (BHEL) Power Sector-Southern Region (PSSR) has received new orders worth Rs 633 crore, taking the outstanding order book at a comfortable level of Rs 1653 crore.

Announcing this at a press conference here last night, PSSR Executive Director D Indran said the orders received for installation of services during the year, included a 500 MW Thermal Power Station (TPS) for Vijayawada and another 500 MW for APGENCO.

The PSSR also received order for building a 2 x 500 MW Neyveli TPS on turnkey basis for Neyveli Lignite Corporation and this would be the largest Circulation Fluidised Bed Combustion (CFBC) boiler in the country.

PSSR was presently executing 22 projects and completed, would add 7185 MW to the grid, he said adding PSSR was constructing four projects in Tamil Nadu, seven in Andhra Pradesh, two in Karnataka, five in Orissa, two in Chattisgarh and one each in Kerala and Madhya Pradesh.

During 2005-06, PSSR has added 177.55 MW to the Southern Grid, which included 3x50 MW units of Pykara Hydro project for the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board and a 1x55 MW steam turbine generator for EID Parry at Pudukottai, he added.

He said PSSR had commissioned and handed over Ramagundam unit 7 in a record 43 months and 27 days, which was a new benchmark in 500 MW project execution.

Mr Indran said the turnover has touched an all-time high of Rs 366 crore, marking an increase of 41 per cent over the previous year. The profit before tax increased by 147 per cent to Rs 40 crore and the value added by 51 per cent to Rs 113 crore.
