PSL gets Rs 85 crore steel pipes order from Oman

New Delhi, Apr 7 (UNI) Steel and steel products maker PSL Ltd today said it had bagged a Rs 85 crore contract from the Oman Government for supply of steel pipes.

The order, from the Sultanate of Oman's ministry of housing, electricity and water, is to be completed within seven months.

With this venture, PSL plans to consolidate its hold in this market. The present order will be supplied from PSL's plant at Kandla.

Commenting on this order, PSL Managing Director Ashok Punj said, ''PSL has recently announced its decision to start its manufacturing operations in the Lower Gulf Region of the Middle East.'' He further added that post the set-up of the company's proposed new pipe mill we will have 13 mills operating, 12 in India and 1 in the Gulf.

UNMOGIP to continue in India, Pakistan : UN

New Delhi, Apr 7: The United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) will continue to stay in both countries as the UN Force is there under a specific mandate, UN Under-Secretary General Shashi Tharoor said today.Mr Tharoor who addressed a seminar here, told reporters on the sidelines that the UN Force had a mandate and they would have to continue as long as that mandate required them to.He was asked whether there was any need.....

Bus falls into Chenab, more than 30 feared killed

Jammu, April 7 (UNI) More than 30 people were feared killed when the bus carrying them fell into the Chenab river at Shashoo near Paddar in Doda district of the Jammu region this morning. Deputy Commissioner Gulzar Ahmed Queraishi told UNI that two bodies have been recoverd so far and three seriously injured passengers admitted in the Athauli civil hospital.
