Policy intiative to lead growth in food processing sector

Mumbai, Apr 7 (UNI) Policy initiatives taken by the ministry of food processing industry will lead to an exponential growth of the industry, said, secretary, union ministry of food processing, A N P Sinha, addressing a conference on ''opportunities in organised food retailing'' organised by the Bombay Chamber of Commerce&Industry (BCCI), here, on Wednesday.

A BCCI press release here today said that during the debate on the desirability of FDI in the food processing industry, delegates were unanimous in their opinion that real investment was necessary in the areas of technology and professional expertise.

Emphasis was laid on the necessity of a suitable policy for ensuring availability of finance for establishing a vibrant food retail industry in the country, the release said, adding that this would ensure a level-playing field and effective competitiveness of all the players in Indian market.

Congress Governments violating Model Code: BJP

New Delhi, Apr 7 (UNI) A BJP delegation today called on Chief Election Commissioner B B Tandon here and complained that Congress were ''misusing'' state funds through advertisements for election purposes.
