Police lathi charge Ramnavami procession

Jamshedpur, Apr 7 (UNI) Police resorted to lathicharge to disperse two chashing groups belonging to two different Akharas during a Ramnavami procession at Sakchi area here this evening.

Police said the violent clash took place when the akharas of Toiladungri and Manifit tried to overtake each other. The devotees of two akharas also hurled stones before police stepped in to disperse them.

Seven people were detained in Sakchi police station but they were released later, police said and added no one was injured in the incident.

More than 200 Akharas in the Dhalbhumgarh subdivision participated in the immersion procession of Lord Bajrangbali.

Advani's 'Bharat Suraksha Yatra' to enter South Gujarat tomorrow

Surat, Apr 7 (UNI) Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L K Advani's 'Bharat Suraksha Yatra' will enter South Gujarat tomorrow. He will be accompanied by Chief Minister Narendra Modi, an official release said today. The yatra, which began from Rajkot yesterday, will reach Bharuch by tomorrow noon and will be given a public reception at Netrang village on the way to Mandvi in Surat district. Both Mr Advani and Mr Modi will address three public.....

BJP opposes clean chit to Chawla

New Delhi, Apr 7 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party tonight dubbed as ''totally unconstitutional'' the Government's decision to give a clean chit to Election Commissioner Navin Chawla, charged with receiving funds from Congress MPs' local area development fund for charities close to him. Article 324 (5) of the Constitution clearly provides for hearing in the matter by the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and not by the Government, party spokesman Prakash Javadekar said, reacting to reports.....

Communalising internal polity is to surrender: Advani

Vadodara, Gujarat, Apr 7 (UNI) Senior BJP leader L K Advani today asked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and congress President Sonia Gandhi not to cheat the people of the country by claiming that there was no compromise on the issue of illegal infiltration from Bangladesh. Addressing a public meeting in this sensitive town, Mr Advani said "communalising internal polity was not just a compromise but a surrender". He said he totally agreed with Congress president Sonia.....
