PM, Sonia to campaign for UDF candidates

Kozhikode, Apr 7 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi will campaign in Kerala to support the United Democratic Front candidates contesting the April/May Assembly polls in the state.

Talking to newspersons here Pradesh Congress Committee President Ramesh Chennithala said Mr Singh will visit various parts of the state, including Malampuzha and Koilandi in the district, on April 20 and Ms Gandhi on April 17 and 18, Detailed election itinerary of other leaders will be worked out later, he added.

In Malampuzha, Congress candidate Satheeshan Pancheni (UDF) is pitted against CPI (M) strongman V S Achuthanandan (LDF) while in Koilandi, UDF supports DIC (K) leader P Sankaran against LDF's P Viswan (CPI-M).

2 group clash at temple function

Bellary, Apr 7: Tension prevailed following a clash between two groups of people during the annual Jathra of Lord Lakshminarayana and Lord Anjaneya at Mariyammanahalli village, about 20 km from Hospet, in this district of Karnataka. Gen Thimayya's house in Madikeri to be made heritage site

Madikeri, Karnataka, Apr 7 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy today declared that the residence of Gen K S Thimayya would be made a heritage centre.
