Pak names 14-member squad for Abu Dhabi one-dayers

Lahore, Apr 7 (UNI) Pakistan today axed out-of-form opener Salman Butt from the 14-member squad announced to play India in two one-day internationals later this month in Abu Dhabi.

The selectors named uncapped left-arm spinner Abdul Rahman in Butt's place for the matches to be played on April 18 and 19, a Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) release said here.

The entire earnings from the first one-dayer will be donated to aid the victims of the October 8 devastating earthquake.

The proceeds from the second game will be shared equally by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and PCB.

The team will leave for Abu Dhabi from here on April 16.

Northgate plans $100 mn GDR

Hyderabad, Apr 7 (UNI) Buyoed by a huge response for its innovative business model, Hyderabad-based internet and wireless technology provider Northgate Technologies Ltd plans to raise 60-100 million through a GDR issue for listing on the London Stock Exchange (LSE). Northgate Technologies CEO Venkat Meenavalli told the media here today, the GDR issue was expected to go through in a year's time. The company had posted Rs 56 crore business in the last nine months recording.....

PM for TRQ protection to plantation growers from India-ASEAN FTA

New Delhi, Apr 7 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today asked Commerce and Industry Minister Kamal Nath and Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar to jointly work out measures to protect the growers of pepper, rubber, palm oil, coffee and tea from the impact of the India-ASEAN Free Trade Agreement. The Prime Minister has asked the two Ministers to work out the effective Tariff Rate Quota for these sensitive products so that there is no dumping from.....

Nearly Rs three lakh looted from PNB

Gaya, Apr 27 (UNI) Criminals looted Rs 2.95 lakh from Nai Bazar branch of Punjab National Bank (PNB) under Khijarsarai police station in the district today. Police Superintendent A K Jain said here that that six desperadoes barged into the branch and looted the booty from cash counters on gun point and managed to escape on their motorcycles.
