No corporatisation of RCF: Railway Board

Kapurthala, Apr 7 (UNI) The Railway Board has decided to drop the proposal of corporatisation of Rail Coach Factory (RCF) here, said senior railway officials here today.

Railway Board Additional Member Staff Dr S C Manchanda and Additional Member Production Partap Srivastva told media persons that the Railway Board would issue a clarification letter as demanded by the union leaders within next few days.

The Railway Board had deputed both the officers to visit RCF to dispel the fear among the agitating workers about the privatization of the factory.

Union leaders had decided to continue with the agitation even after the directions given by the Railway Minister Lalu Prasad to the Chairman Railway Board and Member Mechanical in their meeting in Delhi on April five to drop the proposal at the moment as the workers were against it.

Both the officers had detailed discussions with the union leaders and officers and clarified the stand of the Railway Board and the Railway Minister that it was merely a suggestion mooted by some one to increase the production of quality coaches and for manufacturing of metro coaches which are in great demand.

The union leaders also demanded the transfer of RCF General Manager and to resolve the other issues related to the management.

Meanwhile the agitation of the employees has entered 37th day today against the move of PSU.
