Mani Shankar Aiyar to visit Goa

Panaji, Apr 7 (UNI) Union Minister for Panchayati Raj Mani Shankar Aiyar will arrive on a three-day official visit of Goa from April 10.

During his stay, Mr Aiyar will hold meetings with representatives of local self bodies, zilla panchayat members and call on state Chief Minister Pratapsinh Rane.

The Minister will sign a joint declaration with State Minister for Panchayt Subhash Shirodakr in the presence of Mr Rane on April 12.

BJP opposes clean chit to Chawla

New Delhi, Apr 7 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party tonight dubbed as ''totally unconstitutional'' the Government's decision to give a clean chit to Election Commissioner Navin Chawla, charged with receiving funds from Congress MPs' local area development fund for charities close to him. Article 324 (5) of the Constitution clearly provides for hearing in the matter by the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and not by the Government, party spokesman Prakash Javadekar said, reacting to reports.....

Vadodara, Gujarat, Apr 7 (UNI) Senior BJP leader L K Advani today asked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and congress President Sonia Gandhi not to cheat the people of the country by claiming that there was no compromise on the issue of illegal infiltration from Bangladesh. Algeria, Israel, Morocco to join NATO navy patrols

RABAT, Apr 7 (Reuters) Algeria, Israel and Morocco have agreed to join NATO counter-terrorism naval patrols in the Mediterranean, the organisation said today in Rabat after its first meeting in an Arab country. The US-led defence alliance was meeting seven Mediterranean partners for talks, following regular political consultations that began in 1995 and were relaunched in 2004. Previous sessions have been held in NATO countries. NATO has been running patrols in the Mediterranean under the codename.....
