Man axes his wife to death

Akola, Apr 7 (UNi) Man axed his wife to death at Kalwadi village here following heated arguments between them.

Madhukar Weule (50) had a fight with his wife Shashikala follwing which he attacked with an axe yesterday, killing her instantly, police said.

He went to the police and surrendered before them.

He told the police that he suspected his wife of indulging in prostitution.

US to grant $600,000 to NGOs for anti-trafficking

Kolkata, Apr 7 (UNI) The United States' department of state will grant 600,000 US dollars to the NGOs in West Bengal, Assam, Bihar and Meghalaya to combat human trafficking. New Delhi, Apr 7 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh being an economist ''works very well,'' according to Finance Minister P Chidambaram, who wants it to become a trend for the future. ''It works very well. When RBI Governor (YV Reddy) and I sit with the PM, we know we are talking to someone who is knowledgeable,'' Mr Chidambaram said in an interview to Straits Times of Singapore.
