India-US on same wavelength on Nepal issue : Boucher

New Delhi, Apr 7 (UNI) India and the United States are ''on the same wavelength'' on the developments in Nepal and call for immediate restoration of democracy in that country, US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia, Richard Boucher said today.

Replying to questions after addressing a seminar here Mr Boucher said both India and the US continue to coordinate efforts to restore democracy in Nepal.

''We and India are on the same wavelength...The King's actions had destroyed democracy. The path that the King had chosen would leave the country nowhere,'' Mr Boucher said after addressing the seminar on 'The US-India Friendship : Where We Are and Where We Are Going', organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

While denouncing the actions of Maoists, Mr Boucher said there was a need to work as much as possible for restoration of democracy in Nepal and ''expunge' Maoists rebels.

Mr Boucher, who arrived here yesterday for talks with Foreign Secretary Shyam Saran and S Jayashankar, Joint Secretary (Americas) in the External Affairs Ministry, said he had discussed with Indian officials developments in Nepal also.
