Hoggard says India are the best ODI side in the world

Kochi, Apr 7 (UNI) Having received 4-0 drubbing from the hosts in the ongoing seven-match one-day series, England bowler Matthew Hoggard today conceded that India are at present the best one-day side in the world.

''They are the best one day team in the world and records prove it,'' Hoggard said at a press conference here.

India yesterday set a world record by registering 15 wins on the trot while chasing, erasing West Indies' record of 14 consecutive wins batting second.

The England seamer also expressed disappointment over not being able to perform well in the fourth ODI here yesterday, but put down his lack of performance to a ''loss of rhythm.'' Hoggard, who did not take any wickets during his nine overs yesterday while yielding 59 runs, said that he was not picked up to play in the first three ODIs and then selected for the fourth one-dayer, which led to loss of rhythm.

''Yesterday, I could not bowl as well as I hoped. I was disappointed. I did not play in the first three ODIs at Delhi, Faridabad and Goa. I was picked up for playing in the fourth ODI.

But unfortunately, yesterday I did not bowl as well as I hoped.

When one is playing, there is a rhythm. I will have to work at the nets to get the rhythm,'' he said.

Despite the series loss, the English side's morale was not down, he said. ''It is a good side. Had we won the first two one-dayers, it would have been a different story now,'' Hoggard added.
