Hindu religious body gives orthoaids to Muslim children

Lucknow, Apr 7 (UNI) In an example of communal harmony, six Muslims were among the 18 physically challenged children, who were given free orthoaids by a Hindu religious and social organisation in the Uttar Pradesh capital today.

All the beneficiaries had been identified and medically approved by the School for Potential Advancement and Restoration of Confidence (SPARC), India.

The programme was organised by the Lucknow-based Jai Bajrang Charitable Trust as part of the two-day Shri Hanuman Jayanti celebrations, that commenced this evening.

The beneficiaries -- Asma, Nigar Sultana, Shahnawaz, Sabina, Uzma, Afroz and others -- belong to socially weaker sections of the society, managing trustee Sunil Gomber informed.

''All are equal before the almighty. Hence, there is no reason man should differentiate between people on basis of religion,'' he observed.

The orthoaids were given away by senior UP cadre IPS and 35 PAC battalion commandant Vinod Kumar Singh.

''We wanted to make the celebrations more encompassing for the society, therefore we have tried in our humble way to bring about a little cheer in the lives of these children,'' Mr Gomber told UNI.
