Guj Governor, CM pay homage to Ramachandra Upadhyaya

Surat, Apr 7 (UNI) Gujarat Governor Naval Kishore Sharma and Chief Minister Narendra Modi today paid homage to veteran freedom fighter Ramachandra Dinakar Upadhyaya, an official release said.

Upadhyaya died due to old age at his residence here yesterday.

He took active part in the freedom movement and was imprisoned in 1942 during the Quit India movement.

A staunch Gandhian leader, he was a close associate of Mahathma Gandhi, Vinobh Bhave and Jugat Dham Dave.

Sevoke (Siliguri), Apr 7 (UNI) One person died and 10 others were injured critically in a car-van collision here this evening. The victim, Pradipto Burman(40), a resident of Hyderpara of Siliguri was the driver of the car. All the injured have been admitted into a local hospital, sources added. No corporatisation of RCF: Railway Board

Kapurthala, Apr 7 (UNI) The Railway Board has decided to drop the proposal of corporatisation of Rail Coach Factory (RCF) here, said senior railway officials here today. Railway Board Additional Member Staff Dr S C Manchanda and Additional Member Production Partap Srivastva told media persons that the Railway Board would issue a clarification letter as demanded by the union leaders within next few days. Police lathi charge Ramnavami procession

Jamshedpur, Apr 7 (UNI) Police resorted to lathicharge to disperse two chashing groups belonging to two different Akharas during a Ramnavami procession at Sakchi area here this evening. Police said the violent clash took place when the akharas of Toiladungri and Manifit tried to overtake each other.
